Many people today have joined the ranks of teleworking ever since companies had to operate almost solely online during the pandemic. Working online, or telecommuting, lets you work from anywhere, even in another country. Thus, the onset of the digital nomad lifestyle. You\u2019re all set as long as you have a good internet connection.<\/span><\/p>\n

You don\u2019t need to be based in one place to be a digital nomad. You can travel and enjoy yourself while also working online. The door is open to the places you can go!<\/span><\/p>\n

Costa Rica offers excellent opportunities if you want to become a digital nomad or are one already. You will find affordable living options through a new digital nomad visa and enjoy beautiful beaches, friendly people, and exquisite nature.<\/span><\/p>\n

To encourage tourism, labor, and foreign investment in Costa Rica, the \u201cLaw for Attracting International Remote Workers and Service Providers\u201d was created in August 2021. This law establishes the conditions and requirements for digital nomads to work in any region of the country for a set period, which may be extended if needed or requested. To obtain your visa or permit to stay as a digital nomad, you must comply with a minimum stay and meet the other requirements established in the law.<\/span><\/p>\n

Legal requirements to be international remote workers and service providers in Costa Rica:<\/b><\/h4>\n

  1. An income of at least $3,000 USD per month, or $4,000 USD per month if you bring dependents (kids).<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. You must submit your visa application at the Immigration and Foreigners Office (Direcci\u00f3n General de Migraci\u00f3n y Extranjer\u00eda) or digitally through the page <\/span>Tr\u00e1mite YA!<\/span><\/a> Requests are generally answered quickly (approximately 5 working days).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
